About Me

I teach History and Psychology at Niles High School in Niles, Michigan. I've been doing so for three years now, and sometimes I like to think I'm getting the hang of it. Teaching is a rewarding, if not challenging, career. With holidays, summers, and snow days off from work though, I certainly can't complain.

When not teaching, I do a lot of work with the Moodle Course Management System, which is basically a nice bit of software that helps schools run courses online. I've been using Moodle in the classroom as long as I've been teaching. This site, actually, originally hosted my first courses on Moodle. Today, my courses live on my school's Moodle installation (VikingNet), which I developed for them and currently administer.

I also design and sell themes for Moodle through NewSchool Learning - a small company I started a little over a year ago. Because of the work I do there, you can frequently find me moderating the "themes" forum at moodle.org.

On a more personal note, I've been married to a wonderful, kind, and understanding woman for three quick years. Together, we have one child, named Keegan Patrick, whom is growing and developing at an amazing pace. He'll be turning one this next February. We also have a playful Boston Terrier named Brady. I mention her only because I feel bad for neglecting her since Keegan's birth.

In the future, I plan to take courses in Educational Leadership to work toward a career as a school administrator. I'm not saying that I necessarily want to be an administrator, but I figure since I have to go back to school to keep my certification anyway, I might as well open a door to possibly lead to something later.

If you would like to get to know me even better, I recommend you follow my blog. It's where I keep track of my thoughts on education, technology, and the occasional bit of nonsense.
